Why a midnight delivery needs planning

A cake that turns up at midnight feels spontaneous to the person receiving it, but it only works because someone planned it carefully. Late-night slots are limited, and each one has to be fitted around the other cakes we are baking that day.

That is why we can only take a late-night or midnight delivery when you tell us in advance, at the time you place your order. Please do not wait until the evening itself to ask: a request sent at eleven at night for a cake at midnight is not something we can promise. Our usual minimum notice of 24 hours applies, and a little more is always welcome for a special surprise. Booking early also gives our bakers time to finish the cake properly, rather than rushing it to make a late slot.

Occasions worth staying up for

Midnight cakes are most often booked for birthdays, but they suit anniversaries, a homecoming or the first minutes of a new year just as well. Some people plan one for a partner, others for a flatmate, a parent or a friend living alone who deserves a reminder that someone remembered.

Whatever the reason, the steps stay the same: decide early, book through WhatsApp and tell us the time. Once the slot is confirmed, all that is left for you is the fun part of keeping the secret.

How to book a midnight cake

Booking a late-night surprise works like any other order, with one extra detail to mention right at the start.

• Choose your cake and weight in Quick Order, and add the message you want them to read first.
• When you send the order on WhatsApp, say clearly that you need a late-night or midnight delivery.
• Share the full delivery address within Bangalore, a nearby landmark and a phone number we can reach on the night.
• Wait for our reply: the slot is only booked once we confirm it, together with the delivery charge and the final price.

Making the surprise go smoothly

Midnight surprises usually involve a little plotting. If the cake is going to someone who should not see it coming, tell us who will be at the door to receive it, and whether we should call or message rather than ring the bell. Apartment security, hostel gates and late-night lift rules can all hold up a delivery, so a quick word with the security desk beforehand helps.

If the cutting will wait a while, keep some space free in the fridge for cream cakes and cheesecakes. And if you would rather collect the cake yourself on the way to the celebration, a late pickup from our Seshadripuram kitchen can be arranged too, provided we agree the time with you in advance.
